Roscommon racecourse

The racecourse is situated one mile from Roscommon on the Castlebar Road. The Kilbegnet Novice Chase, run at the October meeting is the feature race of the year.

Staging racing under both codes, Roscommon is a right-handed oval of 10 furlongs with a run-in of three and a half furlongs. The first recorded race meeting took place in 1837. It was organised by the British military which had a base in the town, then though racing officially began in 1885.

Road: The racecourse is one mile from Roscommon town on the main Dublin-Castlebar Road (N60). The town is 85 miles from Dublin

Flat: A right-handed oblong looking track of 1m 2f with a run in of 3 1/2f. It has rather sharp bends and an uphill finish, there's no advantage in the draw.
