Mystery Power headlines Vintage field at Goodwood

Mystery Power runs in the Vintage Stakes at Goodwood

Mystery Power heads seven runners in a fascinating renewal of the Qatar Vintage Stakes at Goodwood on Tuesday.

Andrew Balding’s charge has won each of his two starts to date, most recently winning the Superlative Stakes at Newmarket earlier this month.

That victory means he must shoulder a 3lb penalty in this Group Two heat, with Charlie Appleby’s impressive Chesham Stakes winner Pinatubo leading the opposition.

The Aidan O’Brien-trained Lope Y Fernandez was beaten three and a quarter lengths in the Chesham and he reopposes, while Visnari represents Mark Johnston and Frankie Dettori as he tries to atone for a surprise defeat at Newmarket last time.

Milltown Star, Platinum Star and Positive complete the line up.

The Qatar Lennox Stakes has drawn a field of 10, with Sir Michael Stoute’s Zaaki and Hey Gaman from James Tate’s yard leading the way.

Jersey Stakes winner Space Traveller represents Richard Fahey with nine-year-old Breton Rock trying to supplement his 2017 Lennox win for David Simcock.

Joseph O’Brien sends Speak In Colours while last year’s first and second Sir Dancealot and Suedois also take their chances.
