Manifesto target for Defi Du Seuil at Aintree

Defi Du Seuil claims Lostintranslation after the last

Philip Hobbs will target Cheltenham Festival winner Defi Du Seuil at the Grand National meeting at Aintree.

Winner of the Triumph Hurdle in 2017, the JP McManus-owned six-year-old only ran twice last season, disappointing both times, but a patient approach has paid off and he has rediscovered his best form this term.

Running in the JLT Novices’ Chase, he quickened up past his old rival Lostintranslation after the last.

“He is good and we are very much aiming for the first race at Aintree (Manifesto Novices’ Chase),” said Hobbs.

“He only had a few easy days, otherwise he gets too fresh if you don’t do anything. He is back cantering and is all good. We are looking forward to Aintree.”

Reflecting on Cheltenham, Hobbs said: “We had to pick the right race, as he was in the Arkle as well, and it was a relief the one we went for he won.

“Last season he had two disappointing runs and it was great to see him back at the top end.

“It is pleasing all round.”
