Hugo Palmer is keen to keep Corrosive to handicap company on his next start after earmarking the Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot as a target.

The three-year-old son of Uncle Mo, who holds an entry in the St James’s Palace Stakes at the Royal meeting, made it two wins from as many starts this season when backing up victory on his seasonal return at Yarmouth with a win at the Berkshire track on Friday.

Palmer said: “He is a horse we have held in a high regard for a long time and he is progressive and tough.

“He did quite a lot wrong at Ascot, as he was quite gassy in the early part of the race. Once he got racing and got going he was never for passing.

“It’s onwards and upwards and I think there is a very nice horse in there, but racing will bring it out of him and the next step will be Royal Ascot and the Britannia.

“He has got the fancy entries as there is good horse in there, but it hasn’t quite come out yet.

“He would have wanted to win by seven or eight lengths on Friday to warrant running in a Group One.

“He ground it out and is learning and getting better.”
