Snowbound Newcastle forced to abandon Sunday card

Newcastle Racecourse The jumps meeting at Newcastle on Sunday has been abandoned because of snow on the track.
Clerk of the course James Armstrong was resigned to the inevitable on Saturday morning when an 8am inspection found "minimal improvement".
And with temperatures forecast to stay below freezing, the decision was made to abandon the fixture.
Armstrong said on Twitter: "Racing on Sunday, Jan 21 @NewcastleRaces has been abandoned due to snow. Further freezing temps (minus 3C) & possible snow f'cast again tomorrow."
