Archie Watson planning Breeders' Cup adventure with Corinthia Knight

Racing action

Archie Watson will saddle his first ever runner at the Breeders' Cup after giving Corinthia Knight the green light to contest Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club Juvenile Turf Sprint.

The two-year-old will revert back to the minimum trip for a tilt at the $200,000 contest at Del Mar on November 4.

After claiming a third success on the all-weather on his penultimate start at Wolverhampton, the son of Society Rock found only Invincible Army too strong when tried over six furlongs for the first time in a Group Three at Kempton last time out.

Watson said: "We didn't enter him in the Cornwallis (at Ascot). The ground might end up in his favour, but he doesn't want on it on the slower side.He skips off the all-weather and faster turf suits him.

"There is a race at Del Mar called the Juvenile Turf Sprint which is a $200,000 race.He is three from three over five furlongs around a bend and his only other effort around a bend has been a very good second in the Sirenia over six.

"I thought it would be a good trip for the owners and a good pot to go for."

He added:"It is great to have international runners, we've already been to Ireland, France, Germany and Turkey this year and it will be nice to go back to North America - I spent time with Simon Callaghan on the west coast, so I know Del Mar very well."
