Pontefract racecourse
This West Yorkshire course has thrived since the opening of the M62 as Junction 32 is just half a mile away while links with the A1, M1 and M18 are within 10 miles.
Being a stiff, undulating two-mile track, the emphasis is on stamina in the staying races but front runners are ideally suited in sprints where a low draw is important. It holds several long-distance races throughout the season with the start invariably in front of the enclosures.
